Situated off the top of Wenceslas Square, in between the National Museum and the Prague State Opera, the Garden at the Opera is an innovative, stylish restaurant. The designer’s vision was to create a garden like atmosphere in the centre of the city. “Zahrada V Opere” is the Czech name for the restaurant, which you will need to look out for if you decide to pay a visit.
The feeling as you enter is one of calm and tranquillity. Bamboo and plants are spread throughout and the interior is decorated with colourful, eclectic furnishings, accentuated by soft, subdued lighting. Large wall-to-wall windows line the restaurant and gentle background tunes ease the senses.
The cuisine is very up-to-date and ranges from spicy Thai to Mediterranean fish dishes, all superbly prepared and well presented. The wine list features a selection of Czech and International wines, offered at good prices for their quality. Zahrada V Opere is ideal for a pre or post-opera visit, but is also suitable for many other occasions, from quiet, romantic dinners to business lunches. A fine restaurant, Zahrada V Opere presents good food, in clean, modern surroundings, at lower prices than many comparable restaurants in Prague.
